Daz out to beat the Blues
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Darren Anderton is desperate to end our 10-year itch against Chelsea. It is over 10 years since we beat our rivals from Stamford Bridge and we have yet to claim the spoils against them in the Premiership.
Amazingly, that represents a run of 22 matches in all competitions since goals from David Howells and Gary Lineker won a Division One encounter at Stamford Bridge back on February 10, 1990.
Midfielder Anderton has been at the club since the start of the 1992-93 season and has yet to taste success against the Blues.
He revealed: “I’ve never beaten them. They’ve been a bogey team over the years and being one of our rivals in London makes it all the more frustrating. I don’t know what it is but hopefully the luck will turn on Saturday.
“They’ve obviously lifted themselves for this game over the years and done very well against us home and away.
“We played there last year, played very well and should have got something out of the game. We had a good result last Saturday and we’re confident.”
And what better way to end this season’s run of five away games in the Premiership without a win?
Anderton commented: “Our home form has been good and it’s the away form that we need to pick up on. It is a big game for us Saturday, a hard game and if we can get something out of it we’ll all be pleased.”
Meanwhile, the England international is ready for action again after sustaining a cut on his forehead that required six stitches against Derby last week.
“I’ll be alright,” he added. “I don’t head the ball anyway!”
