Days I'll never forget - Rafa on Spurs
17 July 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Rafa van der Vaart has waxed lyrical about his time at Spurs.
The legendary Dutch striker was a big hit in two seasons at the Lane after joining us from Real Madrid on transfer deadline day, summer 2010.
He marked his home debut with a goal against Wolves in the Premier League that September and followed up with a goal in our first-ever home group match in the Champions League, a 4-1 victory against FC Twente.
Rafa opened the scoring in the famous 3-1 win against Inter Milan, was on target as we came from 2-0 down to beat Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates and scored twice again against the Gunners in a 3-3 thriller at the Lane - six months in, a Spurs legend!
“We had an unbelievable squad and times I will never forget,” said Rafa, who backs his Dutch compatriot Vincent Janssen to also be a hit at Spurs.
“The nights we played in the Champions League, wow, they were something special. For me, that was my best year.
"I miss Tottenham every minute. The Club is still in my heart.”
