Dawson's done good
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
The impact made by Michael Dawson since his introduction to the team came as no surprise to Andy Reid.
The pair joined up just ahead of the January transfer deadline and, while the Republic of Ireland leftie was able to slot straight into Premiership combat, the England under-21 international was forced to be patient due to a shin injury that rendered him unavailable for immediate action.
On his return to fitness - and without a reserve game under his belt - the absence of Noureddine Naybet and Anthony Gardner led to Martin Jol handing Michael a Spurs debut at Anfield against Liverpool, with the home side fresh from eliminating Juventus in the Champions League.
He did not disappoint and was hugely impressive alongside Ledley King - so much so that Martin kept him in the side until a tight calf prevented him featuring on the final day against Blackburn.
"I am delighted for him," said his former Nottingham Forest teammate. "I don't think he probably expected to be in as quick as he was but we got injuries and he ended up making his debut and has done very well. The manager rewarded him by keeping him in the team.
"I don't think I've ever had any doubts about Daws, I've known him a good few years and know what he's capable of. It was hard for him when he came in, he was injured and wasn't out on the training pitch with the lads.
"Now he has shown what a strong character and good player he is.
"He has got leadership qualities, he was captain at Forest when we were there and deservedly so. Those qualities can only stand him in good stead.
"For someone so young to have those qualities is special and he reads the game so well from the back."
