First of all, my injury is coming along really well now.
I’ve been outside training again and I’m doing just about everything now. Hopefully I’ll be back in early January, although I’d rather not pencil in a date for now.
It’s just great to be approaching full fitness again and I can't wait to get back out there.
I was at Sunday’s win against Sunderland and thanks to all the fans who shouted words of encouragement as I walked around the pitch with Les Ferdinand. That was great.
It was an excellent win in the end. Sunderland were well-organised and it looked like being a tough afternoon from the outset. We lost Aaron’s pace when he limped off in the first half and that was a blow, especially as Gareth was also out. But we’ve a great squad here and it showed again when Pav came off the bench and scored the winner. It was a key win and that got us back on track after Stoke.
So it’s Chelsea next, one of the games of the season.
I’ve got some special memories against Chelsea, going back to when we beat them for the first time in years at the Lane on Bonfire Night, 2006. I scored my first goal for Spurs that night and Aaron scored the winner. I’ll always remember that game, it was a key win for us at the time.
Make no mistake, they are a top team with top, top players and you don’t need me to tell you how difficult it will be. But we’ll give everything – as I’m sure you all will from the stands tonight.
It’s my last diary before Christmas so I’d like to wish you all a happy Christmas and a great New Year. Hopefully it won’t be long before I’m writing about matches I’ve been involved in. I can’t wait for that!
