Dawson back on the ball
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Michael Dawson has stepped up his work following a shin injury and is now taking some part in training with the rest of the squad.
The January recruit from Nottingham Forest had been unable to train since his arrival due to a slight stress fracture in his shin but has, in the last few weeks, been making strong progress in his rehabilitation under the watchful eye of fitness coach Alex Court.
"It's great, I'm out there and I can't wait to fully join in with the lads - it is fantastic," beamed the central defender. "I've been out running for the last couple of weeks - which has been hard work - and now I am able to join in with the boys for part of the sessions.
"Even when I've been doing the running this week we have had the ball out, but it is still running. It is disguised running, as the lads say, but it helps you get your touch back.
"I can't wait to hopefully get a game in very soon."
Michael readily agreed that Alex is something of a tough cookie with her rehab programmes and an afternoon nap has often been in order when he gets home.
"She is, she is working me hard, which is good for when I do get back in fully. The others are fit and flying and I'm working towards it.
"It does take time to adjust to it, I've been waking up in the morning pondering another day's running. I'd have loved to have done it the day I signed here so I am not going to complain. I've had a few aches and pains, as you can imagine, and it has been a bit like a pre-season for me.
"You've got to be careful about secondary injuries, the shin is alright but you can pick up another thing because you are not used to the training. I did miss a day with some tightness in my calf, but I feel great at the moment and looking forward to getting stuck in.
"At the moment it is working with Alex then going home very tired and having a sleep! I like my afternoon kip and just training all the time takes a lot out of you. It is great to be outside now and working hard again."
So when does Michael suspect the white shirt will first be pulled on for action?
"There is a reserve game next Wednesday and, fingers crossed, I might get a little run out in that."
