Daws on Newcastle

Newcastle's busy January transfer window paid dividends last weekend when they beat Chelsea at St. James's Park, and Michael Dawson is unsurprised at their upsurge in form.

Alan Pardew's team followed up a win at Aston Villa with a 3-2 victory over the Blues, with four players signed from Ligue One in France playing their part in the win.

After struggling for much of the season, Newcastle come to White Hart Lane on Saturday brimming with confidence.

"Obviously where they are in the league is probably not where they want to be after the season they had last year; they had a great season," said Daws, who played all five of our Premier League fixtures in January.

"But the signings they have brought in and the win they got against Chelsea last week mean they are going to be full of belief.

"New players have arrived who want to show what they can do. It's going to be a tough game and we've got to be ready."
