DAWS HOPES CUP MAGIC CONTINUES

Michael Dawson wants to make sure there are no slip-ups when we visit Reading in our FA Cup third round replay after a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Michael Dawson wants to make sure there are no slip-ups when we visit Reading in our FA Cup third round replay after a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Our defender has seen the magic of the competition over the weekend, with no less than four Premier League clubs being beaten by lower league opposition, and he hopes we can remain a part of it.

Michael is frustrated that we did not make sure of our place against Manchester United in the fourth round on Saturday though, but was encouraged by the overall performance.

He said: “We dominated the game, so to concede two goals was disappointing and it means another game for us.

“But we’re still in the Cup so we can’t complain. I’d rather have a replay than be out of the Cup, but we have to make sure we go one better at their place.

“It’s the FA Cup, a great competition, and we want to go a long way in it. It throws up upsets, that’s why it’s so special and everyone loves playing in it.

“We’ve worked on our defending. We’ve taken a lot of criticism, and from a personal point of view, nobody likes that.

“But the only way you shut people up is to put in good performances and keep clean sheets. We didn’t do that against Reading, but I thought it was a good team performance.”
