Davies faces old mate
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Simon Davies faces a challenge from close to home on Saturday.
Our midfield prodigy will come face-to-face with fellow Welsh international Mark Delaney — the pair were brought up in the same Welsh town of Haverfordwest.
Simon revealed: “I know Mark quite well. He actually knew my brother more than me. I used to go along and watch my brother and he used to play.
“He’s done superbly having come through late. He was playing for Carmarthan Town, moved to Cardiff, had a great year there and then went to Villa and he’s done exceptionally well there.
“He’s a regular with Wales now. It’s been a rapid rise and he’s done well. I’m delighted for him.”
Simon, still just 21, is following a similar path having cut his teeth at Peterborough United before moving to the Lane last January.
He has been in the squad all season, on the bench regularly since December and has shone in his recent chances in the starting line-up.
The icing on the cake was a call-up to the full Welsh squad and his first cap against Ukraine at the Millennium Stadium in March.
Simon added: “Obviously my main aim is to play as many games as I can and to stay involved in the first team squad.
“Villa will be a tough game, they are very organised and tough to break down.”
