Davies delighted

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Simon Davies says he's 'delighted' Wales have been drawn against England in the qualifying stages of the 2006 World Cup.

They were drawn together alongside Northern Ireland to make a mini-British Championship in Group Six.

The full group reads: England, Poland, Austria, Wales, Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan.

"I'm delighted with that," said an excited Simon just moments after this evening's draw in Frankfurt.

"I've always wanted to play England and they will be massive games, as will the games against Northern Ireland.

"We need to get into the top two in the group so it could have been more difficult."

Our Irish contingent at Spurs - Robbie Keane, Steve Carr, Gary Doherty and assistant manager Chris Hughton - have to take on 1998 winners France in Group Four. They also face Switzerland, who toppled them recently in Euro 2004 qualifying, Israel, Cyprus and the Faroe Islands.

As far as the rest of our players are concerned, Milenko Acimovic's Slovenia take on Italy, Scotland, Norway, Belarus and Moldova in Group Five, Helder Postiga's Portugal face Russia, Slovakia, Latvia, Estonia, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg in Group Three.

There could be Spurs interest in Group Seven as well as Goran Bunjevcevic and Jon Blondel will hope to feature for Belgium and Serbia & Montenegro against Spain, Bosnia, Lithuania and San Marino.

In the African draw, also made today, Mbulelo Mabizela's South Africa take on Congo DR, Burkino Faso, Ghana, Uganda and Cabo Verde in Group Two.
