Dave Mackay funeral details
13 March 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
The Club can confirm that Dave Mackay’s funeral service will take place in Edinburgh on Tuesday, March 24.
The funeral cortège will depart from Tynecastle Stadium – home of Dave’s first club, Heart of Midlothian – at around 1.30pm with the remembrance service due to take place at Mansfield Traquair, 15 Mansfield Place, Edinburgh, EH3 6BB, at circa 2.15pm.
This will be followed by a reception for family, friends, former colleagues, team-mates and football dignitaries in the Gorgie Suite at Tynecastle Stadium, Edinburgh.
A delegation of ex-players, board members and staff from our Club will travel to the funeral and Dave’s former team-mate Cliff Jones will be delivering a eulogy during the service.
Due to the expected large number of people wishing to pay their respects to our former double-winner, admission will be by invitation only at the discretion of the family. Anyone wishing to gain further information regarding the funeral arrangements should email email@example.com.
A private service for family and close friends will then take place at Warriston Crematorium, Warriston Road, EH7, at circa 3.15pm. Heart of Midlothian FC chaplain Andy Prime will conduct both services.
For those based closer to White Hart Lane who wish to pay their respects, a book of condolence will be opened on the day of the funeral at the stadium. This will be located in the Family Room, off the West Stand car park.
The Club is also in discussions with Dave’s family and a local Reverend with regards to a memorial service in Enfield. We shall keep supporters updated on this.
