DARREN ON NORTH EAST TEST

Darren Bent believes containment will be the early order of the night when we take on Newcastle at St James Park on Monday. Our last two visits to the home of the Magpies have resulted in 3-1 defeats and both times Newcastle have been quick out of the blocks in goalscoring terms. Last season they held a two-goal advantage after just seven minutes and the season before they were a goal to the good with two minutes on the clock.
It emphasises the importance of keeping it tight in the opening minutes this time around.
"It won't be an easy game but we have got the players to go up there and get a good result," reasoned Darren. "People might think it will be straightforward after what we did at Liverpool. It does not always work like that, but if we play as well as at Anfield then we can go there and get what we want.
"Newcastle start really fast and we've got to be prepared for that. This is the Premier League and games often tend to start like that, but we know what we've got to do.
"They've got some good players, while they also let some go in the summer so it evens itself out. We know what we need to do and we are looking forward to it."
After the trip to the North East we open up our UEFA Cup Group Stage campaign with a home tie against Spanish side Getafe. Darren believes our group draw was a favourable one.
"It was a good draw. I played in the UEFA Cup when I was younger and can't remember too much about it. It is a fantastic competition that Tottenham did well in last year and hopefully we can go a couple of steps further this season.
"I was watching on TV last season and the team were fantastic before getting beaten by a really good Sevilla team, who went on to win it. This season I think we are stronger and can really do something."
