Danny Jordaan, chief executive of South Africa's 2010 World Cup bid, expressed his delight that we agreed to tour the country on our arrival in Durban on Thursday.
Mr Jordaan spoke at a packed press conference at the team's hotel alongside our chairman Daniel Levy, Glenn Hoddle and his Orlando Pirates counterpart Roy Barretto, Gary Mabbutt, Jamie Redknapp, Simon Davies and Pirates stars Mbuelo Mabizela and Lesley Manyathela.
He declared: "On behalf of the World Cup 2010 we'd to thank Daniel Levy and Glenn Hoddle for agreeing to come to South Africa and playing Orlando Pirates in Durban.
"We know that from a football point of view, this is going to be a wonderful spectacle.
"We want to demonstrate that this country has the ability and capacity to host the World Cup.
"We are delighted to see them here, we hope they have a wonderful time and we're looking forward to a thrilling encounter. The excitment of the fans has been unbelievable and Saturday's game will be a sell out."
In turn, Daniel Levy responded: "We delighted to be here. It's 40 years since Spurs were last in South Africa and we're all looking forward to it.
"I know that Glenn and the boys are all very determined to make sure this trip goes very well and we'll certainly give both the Pirates and Chiefs a good run for their money."
Boss Glenn added: "It's great for the players and staff to be here. We have two very difficult games, we know that, but pre-season is a very important time for us and we're looking forward to them."
