Danny ready for Navas duel
01 May 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Danny Rose is well aware of the potential threat of Jesus Navas down his flank on Sunday – but he’s determined to push the City speedster back the other way.
The full-back is back in contention after missing Saturday’s draw at Southampton after feeling a tight hamstring late in the win at Newcastle on April 19.
His return is perfect timing as Ben Davies is now out for the season after surgery on his shoulder.
Danny will come face-to-face against in-form Navas but wants to impose his game onto the Spanish star.
“We want to make teams worry about us, to keep the ball as much as possible and it will be no different at the weekend,” said Danny, who has started 25 games in the Premier League this term.
“There won’t be too many times where I look at an opponent and worry what he’s going to do but that might be different against Navas because he’s been in good form of late.
“I’ll still play my game, try to get forward and try to come up with an assist or hopefully a goal. At the same time, I’ll have to be careful with Navas because he’s very dangerous.”
Danny described Sunday as a ‘massive game’ against a City team that has lost three of the last six in the Premier League, but arrive at the Lane with back-to-back wins over West Ham and Villa.
Meanwhile, we recovered from a home loss against Villa with a win at Newcastle and hard-fought draw at Southampton.
“We were disappointing against Villa and got punished, so it was nice to get back to winning ways at Newcastle and then pick up a good point at Southampton,” he added. “We want a good end to the season especially in front of our fans at the Lane.”
