Czech-mate for U21s

Kyle Walker and Danny Rose suffered late heartbreak in the European Under-21 Championship finals - with a former Spur striking the fatal blow.

Kyle Walker and Danny Rose suffered late heartbreak in the European Under-21 Championship finals - with a former Spur striking the fatal blow.

Full-back Kyle made it three out of three starts in the tournament when he lined-up in England's must-win game against the Czech Republic in Herning, Denmark.

Danny, who started the first two group matches, was on the bench this time. He entered the fray for Scott Sinclair in the final five minutes.

Things looked to be going to plan for Stuart Pearce's team when Danny Welbeck opened the scoring with only 15 minutes remaining.

But Jan Chramosta levelled in the final minute for the Czechs and with England desperate to find a winner in added time Tomas Pekhart, our former Academy and development squad striker, had the easiest of tasks to finish off a counter-attack and end England's participation.

Spain and the Czech Republic qualify for the semi-finals from Group A with Belarus and Switzerland progressing from Group A.
