Curbishley's London pride
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Alan Curbishley praised the determination of his Charlton side after they continued their unbeaten run in London derbies this season.
"They done magnificient, they've done fantastic," beamed the Addicks boss, who pointed out that Charlton have had to endure injury problems of their own. "Players have come in and taken up the baton and they've all dug in - they've dug in tonight I think.
"We had 18 players tonight, I know Spurs have got their injury problems, but we had 18 and we dug in and got a result."
A rare goal from Chris Powell sealed the victory and Spurs are his favourite team in more ways than one.
"He's only scored twice and I think they've both been against Spurs," added Curbishley. "He's a lifelong Spurs fan and I think the only other time he's ever come near scoring was against Spurs a couple of years ago.
"I was very pleased, we rode our luck second half. You play against so many good players and Poyet is one of them. We're delighted, but can we keep going?
"We've managed to get up for these games and the fans enjoy it. We just felt tonight, with the run Spurs have been on, that the atmosphere here wouldn't be as good as it normally is.
"I've been here quite often this year and obviously, up to the Worthington Cup and quarter-final, the atmosphere here has been first class. I think it was a little bit deflated tonight, waiting to see what was going to happen and we managed to quieten them completely in the first half I felt.
"Then we got the goal, which was the important one."
