Captain Ledley King represented the club at the launch of Premier League community and charity initiative Creating Chances on Tuesday. The event showcased the huge amount of positive work that top-flight football does in the community, and for good causes and charities.
Ledley attended to highlight Spurs’ involvement, and rubbed shoulders with players from every other Premiership club signed up to the programme, all showing precisely how clubs are more committed to this side of the game than ever before.
The core element of Creating Chances is a new initiative called ‘Places for Players’, which will involve 10 public appearances from members of our first-team squad, supporting a number of charities and good causes in our communities throughout September.
Another great opportunity for fans, introduced as part of Creating Chances, is Your Shot. This will see each Barclays Premier League club offer one of their most deserving fans the opportunity to win a unique, once-in-a-lifetime match day experience.
One of our most deserving fans will get the chance experience full matchday hospitality, meet the players and sit on the bench during our 125th Anniversary match against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane on October 1.
Research shows the Premier League and its 20 clubs will invest an estimated £122 million next season in community projects, charities and other good causes. The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation alone aims to create 500,000 sporting opportunities for young people in our communities.
Ledley said: "I never need any convincing about the value of this work to kids of all ages in our community. Every time I attend an event I can’t help thinking how great it would have been to have the opportunities that exist today when I was growing up, so it’s fantastic to be able to make a difference."
