Michael Carrick feels consistency has been the key to our Premiership form this season.

With two games remaining the facts are there in black and white - beat Bolton on Sunday and West Ham next weekend and we'll finish fourth.

European football has already been secured for next season thanks to last week's 1-1 draw against Arsenal at Highbury.

One more point will better our best tally for a Premiership season but that 62-point mark was set after 42 games back in 1994-95 - we're now on 62 after 36.

In-form midfielder Michael puts it down to producing the goods week in, week out - proof of the pudding, if needed, is that we've yet to suffer back-to-back defeats in the league all season.

"Perhaps in the past Tottenham teams would play well one week, not so well the next, alright the next then well again and go on like that," reflected Michael.

"We're not satisfied with that.

"We want to play well every week whether it's a big game - like Arsenal last Saturday - or not such a big game.

"You have to play the same way every time you step out and that separates the top teams from the rest, the ability to be at your best week in, week out.

"It's something we've been aware of and worked on and if you look at the full season there hasn't really been a blip."

The England international also insisted there was a sense of the squad not wanting to look back thinking 'what might have been'.

He added: "Everyone in the dressing room is aware how good the squad is and the potential we've got and we are determined to make the most of that.

"We don't want to be sitting here in 10 years thinking 'what a squad we had there' but it didn't quite come off for us.

"We want to be remembered for being a great team and achieving things and you do that by winning things."
