Competition has improved us both - Ben

Ben Davies believes the competition with Danny Rose for our left-back spot has driven both players to improve this season.

Welsh international Ben returned to the starting line-up in the Premier League in our 2-1 win at QPR - his first start in league action since the goalless draw against United on December 28.

Ben has made 24 appearances in all competitions so far this term while Danny has 27 but has started 20 times in the Premier League.

"The competition has been good for both of us, we’ve had to fight for a position in this team and it’s improved us both as players," said Ben.

"That can only be a good thing for the club and for us as players because we drive each other on and both try to set a standard every time we play.

"We have to reach those standards and we’re pushing each other every step of the way - if one gets the nod, the other is right behind him.

"It’s all about the team here and QPR is an example of that, the lads coming off the bench and doing so well, that’s what you need to succeed in the Premier League."
