Community deal set to grow
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Our Community Department is continuing to expand its work in the 'New Deal for the Community' scheme when the schools return after the summer break.
The NDC is a curriculum-based project where the club worked with ten schools on a 39-week coaching programme.
It has been very well received and Community officer Steve Grenfell is hoping to target more schools next time around.
"It has been a resounding success, we have reached out to over 3,600 children, who have received expert coaching from our community staff throughout the academic year at the ten schools.
"The ball control and skills of the youngsters have improved no end."
Meanwhile, In the last month we have welcomed children from the Kensington and Chelsea area on trips to the Lane, along with children from Tower Hamlets.
It is a result of our link with the Educational Business Partnership Group, who circulated the schools with a package outlining how the scheme can benefit them with a number of options.
"Schools take the opportunity to come to the club, be coached by the community scheme, view the changing rooms and have lunch - it is a nice day trip," added Steve.
St Cuthberts, St Mathias and Christchurch Primary School from Kensington and Chelsea have participated in the scheme, as have Bishops Challinor school, Marlberry School for girls, The George Green Schools - all from Tower Hamlets.
"The EPP programmes have worked out very well are more are set to take place next term."
