Colin praise for striking duo
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Colin Calderwood was full of praise for returning strikers Lee Barnard and Steffen Iversen after the 4-2 reserve win over Fulham.
Lee played his first game last Thursday after nine weeks out with a hand injury and continued his comeback at the Kingfield Stadium, while Steffen enjoyed a 45-minute run-out - his first action since the beginning of February following his recovery from a back injury.
Both strikers found the net in the first half, with Barnard's header just before the break being the culmination of a lovely move that began with Jonathan Blondel, from his own half, picking out space in front of Dean Marney down the right flank.
The reserve team skipper speedily advanced and he went on to deliver a pin-point, outswinging cross to the near post where Barnard was waiting to leap and direct past the helpless home keeper Herrera.
"Lovely goal - very good goal," purred Colin. "Well worked from almost the length of the pitch and Jon's ball really stretched Dean Marney right to the by-line and he produced a good cross from which Lee got a goal.
"Lee's hard work deserved it in the first half. Nine weeks out and he's absolutely worked his socks off - he was treading water in the end because of the work he puts in."
Steffen's goal came directly from a Neil Sullivan clearance and the Norwegian displayed good close control before firing in under pressure from the edge of the area. Colin feels that the goal will fuel his confidence in the coming weeks.
"It was planned to give him 45 minutes and hopefully it is a start to having a period of real sustained fitness - that is what we hope for him.
"He took his goal very well and it all helps. Even though it was only a reserve game, to hit the back of the net in any game must contribute to some sort of confidence building."
