Colin makes his points
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Colin Calderwood described himself as ‘happy’ with the performance of his beefed up reserve side that took a full three points from their encounter with Leicester City at Stevenage.
Goals from Sergei Rebrov and Ciaran Toner were enough to hold off the foxes, who replied with a fortunate effort following a mis-hit clearance from Gavin Kelly.
The reserves now have two wins on the board in the FA Premier Reserve League and only the one blot, when a pretty much Academy side were overcome by Arsenal.
“I am happy with that,” reflected Colin. “From the first 15 minutes onwards we played at a tempo that was good for us.
“We’ve gave the ball away once or twice more than we all would like but the application that we worked on over the last couple of weeks, getting people in and running forward without the ball to give people options, they carried that out in full.
“I think every single one exerted themselves and that’s an important part of playing these games.”
An experienced side including Sergei Rebrov, Tim Sherwood and Oyvind Leonhardsen dominated much of the game and the scoreline is not really a true reflection of the territorial advantage won.
“It wasn’t so much the final ball as that when we did have chances we didn’t take them. On other occasions we would have probably scored at least two more. Unfortunately the goal they scored bought them back into the game and made it a lot closer than it really deserved to be.
“Overall I thought we were alright. One or two will probably go away and think, as with a lot of games, that they could have done better in certain situations.
“We had numerous chances, especially in the second half. We took a while to get started.”
