Colin Calderwood was not disappointed with the performance of his patched up reserve side despite them falling to defeat at Charlton.
First and youth team commitments saw Colin field a slightly unfamiliar line-up at the Valley and the scoreline does not really reflect the game.
"It was," said Colin of his patchwork side. "And obviously one or two played for the first time tonight. Although we got beat 3-1 I'm coming away fairly pleased with how we performed. It's nice when the other coach says that you played well.
"3-1 is probably a very harsh reflection on the game, they scored right in the last few seconds. The game was really nip and tuck until then. I'm disappointed that we took the lead through possibly the best goal we've scored all season and then gave a goal away.
"They scored not long after that, but we didn't drop our heads and from then we went and had one or two more opportunities. We might have had a penalty and such and such, but it doesn't really matter. The thing that is important to us is the reaction from 2-1 down.
"It was a game played at a high tempo and they'll be a lot of stiff bodies tomorrow."
A major positive from the game was the return of Gary Doherty through injury, and Colin changed him from front to back and the other way round.
"That was just to make him run a bit more - just for his fitness! He scored a nice goal and he reckons it wasn't offside.
"That's encouraging for the club really, Doc looked really comfortable in there really.
"There were some pleasing things tonight, one or two patches of work we did were very good. We had one or two opportunities that we might have done better with in the first half, but the final ball through to a runner wasn't good enough on occasions.
"I'm fairly pleased with how they did. It lifts everyone when they come to a main ground, I only wish we could do it at White Hart Lane, but we're not in a position to do so."
