Colin completes clean sweep
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Colin Calderwood admitted that he thought he might have let the side down when the reserves were losing 2-0 to Coventry on Monday night.
With both the Academy sides winning against Milwall on Saturday and the first team enjoying a triumph at Newcastle, the pressure was on Colin to produce a clean sweep and complete a great weekend for the club.
"It was mentioned," smiled Colin after watching his side claw back the deficit and clinch the win with goals from Tim Sherwood, Yannick Kamanan and Sergei Rebrov.
"I felt I was going to let the side down a little bit, but we stuck at it and we've got to give the boys credit and look on the positive side of it.
"Once they got their teeth into the game they gave a performance."
Colin was not so happy with the opening period of the game where his side struggled to establish a pattern and gain a foothold in the game, but insists, for the most part, errors were made attempting to do the right thing.
"It was a strange sort of game. Obviously we're happy we've won, the first goal gave us something to cling onto and the boys thought they might get something after that.
"We started to get a little bit of joy and in the end we won, but there was lots of things in the first half that we would probably like to do a lot better with.
"People are going to make mistakes, but if they make mistakes attempting to do the right thing then you've got to give them a bit of leeway.
"One or two things was down to being sloppy, people going to sleep or feeling a bit sorry for themselves - they are the things I would point out. But people making mistakes, attempting to hit passes and missing, you've got to say they were trying to do the right thing and can they crisp it up a bit.
"The benefit we'll get from the game is that it was another good physical exercise like last week's.
"We've just got to keep playing the sort of football that we want to play."
