Coach's Corner - Reserve reaction

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Clive Allen was happy with the performance of his reserve side, despite suffering a first defeat in six games against Fulham on Tuesday evening.

It was a youthful second string that took to the field at Woking - apart from returning skipper Jamie Redknapp - and first year Academy boy Charlie Daniels made his debut alongside fellow first years Jamie O'Hara and Philip Ifil.

It was a second half own goal by Danny Foster that settled the contest on a rainy and windy night in Surrey.

"I was pleased considering the young side we had playing," reflected Clive. "I thought the players given their opportunities acquitted themselves very well.

"When you look at the run of results we've had there has been a lot of senior players playing and here the pressure was on the young boys as it was a chance for them.

"I was pleased with them, in difficult conditions we played the better football of the two sides and created a few half chances.

"Overall, it is disappointing only because I felt we deserved to take something away from the game."

The own goal spun off the top of Foster's boot following a low cross from the left - a blow considering Spurs had established control of the game.

"Yes, it was a good period for us and it was the only real danger they created. The cross went in and it was one of those that could have gone anywhere.

"The lads are disappointed because they've given everything and, I've got to say, I am pleased with the way they performed."
