Club at Skills London 2015

12 November 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

The Club is set to become the first Premier League outfit to exhibit at London’s largest careers event, Skills London 2015, over the next couple of days.

The Club and Foundation are driving employment opportunities for young people in North London at the event, taking place on Friday, November 13, and Saturday, November 14, at London ExCeL.

The Club is a main sponsor at the exhibition this year, which is expected to attract over 30,000 visitors aged 15-24 and be attended by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.

During the two-day event, the Club will showcase a wealth of employment and training opportunities available to young people in North London through a number of initiatives delivered through its Foundation.

Situated at stands 119 and 500, visitors to Skills London can get one-to-one advice on career routes and job opportunities, test their interview techniques and take part in a range of challenges throughout the day.

In the last 12 months, the Club’s employment initiatives have delivered over 3,000 job opportunities, offered apprenticeships to 100 young people and welcomed more than 3,000 job seekers to jobs fairs held at its world famous home, White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur offers young people classified as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) the chance to gain BTEC and NVQ qualifications through its flagship Education and Football Development Centre scheme, which has to date enrolled 875 students. It was also the first Premier League Club to deliver a foundation degree programme, making higher education more accessible to some of the most deprived young people living in its local community.

For 10 years, Skills London has been inspiring young people by showcasing opportunities including apprenticeships, education, training, employment and internships available to them.

Donna-Maria Cullen, Executive Director, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, said: “We are committed to supporting young people to gain the right qualifications and work experience to secure employment.

“Using the appeal of the Tottenham Hotspur brand and a partnership we have with the Department for Work and Pensions and Haringey Council, we’ve already successfully delivered over 3,000 employment opportunities through our jobs fairs, apprenticeship schemes and partner initiatives.

“An increasing number of job and training prospects are opening up in a variety of sectors and organisations for young people through the Club-led regeneration of our home borough of Haringey. We’re at Skills London to bring these exciting opportunities to the attention of London’s young job seekers and support them on their pathway to success.”
