Club and AIA develop coaching programme in Asia

As part of our continued work to develop the game at grassroots level across the world, we have delivered a series of coaching programmes in Hong Kong and Thailand in conjunction with Official Shirt Sponsor AIA.
Our Global Coaching team now has two dedicated members based in Asia through the AIA partnership, bringing methods used within the Club’s Academy to young players in the region and teaching them “the Spurs Way.”
As a result, a range of activity has taken place in Thailand over the past month, including the Bangkok AIA Festival, which allowed coaches to select eight participants for an elite training camp in October. Our team also delivered an educational workshop for Academy coaches from Thai Premier League clubs and met over 40 members of the official Thailand Spurs Supporters’ Club.
Regular programmes have also continued in Hong Kong as our coaches further develop relationships with the local community and the WeCan Project, which provides disadvantaged students with personal development opportunities, allowed 40 participants to hone their skills on a four-day course.
Ricky Wong, Member of Project WeCan Committee, said: “I would like to thank AIA and Spurs for the great support and for giving the students such a great experience. The coach encouraged the students to follow their passion in football and continue to do their best.”
