Club a hit with the kids in America
30 March 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
The Tottenham Hotspur America Trophy is held every December in Baltimore, Maryland, bringing together some of the top youth teams from across the US and Canada to battle it out under the watchful eye of our Global Coaching team.
The best 30 players from the tournament are selected for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Club during the following Easter period to hone their talents, working closely with our coaches.
It’s a great example of how the Club is leading the way in terms of grassroots football development in that part of the world, and we this week welcomed the latest crop of hopefuls to London, where they have trained at Hotspur Way and played matches against other Academy sides from across the capital.
A highlight for the group was a Q&A session with Jan Vertonghen. As 12-year-old Gus Bachmann remarked: “I am used to watching these players on TV with my Dad at 7am on a Saturday morning back home - I never thought I’d get the chance to actually meet one of them!”
