Clive: Progress made

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Clive Allen reflected on his time so far back at the club as reserve team coach and declared himself happy with the progress made.

Our once prolific frontman returned to the Spurs fold following the departure of Colin Calderwood to Northampton back in October and took over the second-string reigns on a temporary basis with some success - particularly in late December to early January where his team won five straight games.

"With coming in before Christmas and picking up from Colin - who did particularly well and has gone on to do well at Northampton - it was a big opportunity for me," considered Clive as he looked back on his first stint in charge.

"I thought the way the lads responded was excellent. It wasn't easy at times because, for me, it was a new experience - although I had worked with teams before. It was a case of being involved with the reserve team group and understanding how, from game to game, things can change dramatically.

"It was a good learning curve for me and, I felt what I was trying to tell the lads, they took on board. I thought we had some very good performances, one or two indifferent ones, but that is part and parcel of reserve team football because of the inconsistency of the players available week in, week out.

"Overall I have been very happy. Losing the last game against Coventry was a disappointing way to finish the season, but in the run up to that we started to achieve a little bit of consistency in the way we were performing."
