Clive hopes for Spurs return
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Clive Allen hopes he can still be involved with Spurs one day now his temporary reign as reserve team coach has reached its conclusion.
The striking legend returned to the club in October on a part-time basis following the departure of Colin Calderwood to Northampton Town. His tenure was always going to run until the restructuring was ready to take place during the close season and the former England age-group coach says he relished the opportunity to further himself at club level.
"The agreement we had was going to run until such time as permanent appointments were going to be made," said Clive this morning. "I understood the situation and it has come to a natural conclusion.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed it, I have come in and have, hopefully, done a good job in a part-time capacity. I expected it to come to an end and that it what's happened. In the longer term I would love to get involved again in some role.
"I'll always be available should the call come, I've got a passion for the club and the opportunity to come in was what I'd always dreamed of. I hope that the impression I made was a good one."
Clive stated that newspaper reports suggesting he has been sacked are inaccurate.
"I haven't been sacked, I was asked at a dinner what my position was and I said my agreement had ended and it must have registered with people that I got the sack.
"As I said, it is a natural end to the agreement I had. I am grateful to club for giving me the chance to further my coaching career and there was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity.
"I am a qualified coach and the chance to come into the club and work day to day was fantastic."
