Clive after cutting edge

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Clive Allen wasn't completely satisfied despite seeing his side beat FA Premier Reserve League South champions Charlton at The Valley last night.

Johnnie Jackson's first half opener and an own goal accounted for our goals in a 2-1 victory but we missed a host of chances, including a penalty, to put the game way beyond the home side's reach.

Coach Clive said afterwards: "We had a lot of chances. I was pleased with what we created but we needed that cutting edge and more clinical finishing to make it a very good performance and what could have been an outstanding victory.

"I thought we played some decent football at times but just feel that sometimes we don't maintain the levels we are capable of. That's the only disappointing factor.

"The lads worked very hard but it would have been nice to have rounded the evening off with a bigger winning margin which I think some of our play warranted.

"We got into the positions and a clinical edge to the finishing would have made the game even more comfortable for us."

The plusses on the night were the return of defender Dean Richards, who played just over an hour and Rob Burch back in goal - the pair had been out for six and five weeks respectively.

Clive added: "I thought Dean did very well and Stephane Dalmat, John Jackson and Rohan Ricketts all played 90 minutes and that's what they need at this stage of the season.

"You don't want players going too long without match action. I spoke to Stephane about that before the game and I was pleased Deano went into the second half."
