Clint on City
Clint Dempsey tells our official matchday programme for Sunday's huge game against City that he expects the race for Champions League places to go down to the wire.
The visit of the reigning champions to the Lane kick-starts our run-in of six matches with Wigan, Southampton, Chelsea, Stoke and Sunderland to follow.
There are five points between Everton in sixth and Chelsea in third with no doubt many twists and turns to follow over the next month.
"It’s in our hands and you can’t ask for more than that," said Clint. "It’s great that we have everything left to play for. We have our destiny in our own hands in terms of trying to achieve our target and now it’s just about making sure we get the job done. We have to make sure the opportunity doesn’t pass us by."
Clint added that the team is well aware of City's dangers but will try impose our game on Sunday.
“Of course City are a quality team, with a lot of great players out there,” he said. “It will be a difficult game, we know that, and we have to play the best football we can to try to get the right result.
“Obviously we will be aware of their threats and dangers, but we have worked hard on things this week and we will go out there and play our own game, to put ourselves in a position to win the match."
