Clem steps it up
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Stephen Clemence has linked up with the rest of the squad for full training and is targeting a next week's reserve fixture for his comeback.
Clem was struck down with medial knee ligament damage in August and was forced to wear a brace for six weeks. He has been in light training recently, but has progressed sufficiently to train at full throttle.
"I've trained the last four days now and it's all felt good," reported Clem. "I'm just trying to get my sharpness back now and hopefully play a reserve game maybe next week.
"I'm obviously being a little bit careful about it, but I'm doing what all the other lads are doing now. I just need to get my match fitness back."
The energetic midfielder says there has been no adverse reaction to upping his workouts.
"No, it's all been great. It's been a long few months and I'm just pleased to be back out there training with the lads. It all feels fine."
Clem was present at the Arsenal game on Saturday, but admits to not being a very good watcher of football.
"I've been to a few to support the lads, but I don't particularly like going. I much prefer being out there and I would have loved to have played in that game on Saturday.
"Injuries are part and parcel of football and I've just got to look forward to the second half of the season and hopefully get back in contention in about a month's time probably."
Clem was not expected to be pushing for a return until around Christmas time, so a reserve outing next week against Wimbledon would put him slightly ahead of schedule.
"I'm delighted, happy with the way I've been looked after by the medical staff and specialists. It's been a long time, I'm probably on schedule, maybe a little bit ahead of it and I'm hoping to be available December time.
"I've got to try and get my place back in the team. The lads are doing great, so it is going to be very difficult, but I'm going to give it my best shot to get back in there."
The timing of the injury was unfortunate for Clem, the third game of a new season in which he was keen to impress Glenn.
"It's obviously the manager's first full season and you want to impress. I felt I had a good pre-season. "When I look back at my last four years, we've had a couple of good cup runs but we always seem to have some sort of controversy or the team gets some stick.
"We now seem to be heading in the right direction and I want to be part of it. So this injury has been very disappointing for me, but I'm going to have to get back for the remainder of the season and enjoy it then."
