Clem back on the run
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Stephen Clemence is back at Spurs Lodge taking the first steps on the road to recovery after suffering medial ligament damage in his knee.
Clem was struck down against Blackburn and has been forced to put up with wearing a knee brace for six weeks ahead of his return to light work.
"I've started running now and stepping it up," revealed Clem. "I haven't done any checks or turning yet so I've not tested the knee too much.
"I'm starting to build my fitness up again and hopefully in about three weeks time I'll be back in full training.
"I've just been trying to keep my thigh muscle as strong as possible because I've had the brace on for six weeks and lost quite a lot of muscle. So I'm trying to build that up now.
"It has been a frustrating time for me because I've missed a lot of games and I'm I'm still going to miss quite a few because I won't be back until December.
"It's been a bad time, but I'm trying to be positive and get back as soon as possible."
Clem his happy to report that his period of inactivity has not led to him having to shed excess poundage on his comeback.
"I'm not really like that and quite lucky because I don't put on weight. I eat all the right food and drink the right drink anyway!," he laughed.
The midfielder managed to keep body and mind together during his absence, but the brace was a definite downside for him.
"I had to have in on in bed and everything, so I was glad to get rid of it after six weeks. The club gave me a week off so I had a holiday, that was good, and now I'm back and raring to go.
"The lads are doing very well and I can't wait to get back in there. It'll be tough to get back in the team, but I'm looking forward to it."
