Clean slate, same desire for Nabil

07 August 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Nabil Bentaleb hopes we can take full advantage of a fresh start and claim victory at Manchester United this weekend.

The new Premier League season gets underway in earnest with our trip to Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime representing the first top flight match of the campaign.

Central midfielder Nabil is relishing the chance to begin with a clean slate and is determined to help us enjoy a positive opening to proceedings in 2015-16.

"We finished fifth last time but this is a new season – everyone starts from zero,” said the 20-year-old. "It's a special game to start with. United have big players, I believe they are stronger than last season but we're ready.

“I'm sure it will be a good game and we are determined to do well. We have our colours to defend and our supporters to make proud.”

While clearly excited to start afresh, the Algeria international cannot help but cast a rueful glance back on our last visit to United’s enclosure – a disappointing 3-0 defeat back in March – and target an improved performance this time around.

“We take positives from how we finished the season, the post-season tour and pre-season, but now we have to make sure we don't make the same mistakes as last time,” he added.

“We were so disappointed with how things went last time at Old Trafford. It was a bad day for us and we will make sure we show a better face this time and show what we can do."
