City vs Spurs - Andros eyes rebound repeat
22 November 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Andros Townsend has been pleased with the way we’ve bounced back to winning ways whenever we’ve suffered defeat this term – and he’s keen for something similar to happen at Manchester City.
Our three defeats in the Premier League this term have all immediately preceded an international break – and each time we’ve come back after the interval with a strong performance to take all three points.
We travel to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon, two weeks after slipping to a 1-0 reverse at home to Newcastle United.
And our England international winger believes the time that’s elapsed since our last outing has once again given us time to plot a return to winning ways.
“It’s been good in the sense that every time we’ve suffered a defeat we’ve had a couple of weeks to mull it over and it’s made us even more hungry to get the win when we do have a game,” said Andros.
“Everyone is focussed on getting a good result on Sunday.”
City’s home form has been roundly hailed recently – they’ve won all five home games in the top flight so far in 2013/14, scoring 20 goals and shipping just two.
Andros believes Manuel Pellegrini’s side commands respect wherever they play, but he’s also confident we have enough in our ranks to go to City and get a result.
“City is going to be a hard game regardless of the team they play and if they’re at home or away,” said the 22-year-old.
“It’s always going to be a tough game so it’s up to us to match them and hopefully get the win.”
