City 4-1 Spurs - Mauricio's reaction

Mauricio Pochettino had few complaints after we were beaten 4-1 by Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday.

The biggest disappointment for the manager was the way in which we conceded the opening goal - Ilkay Gundogan's free header from a corner on 15 minutes - but even though City created chances, we were well in the game up until the second goal from Kevin De Bruyne on 70 minutes.

We had our best spell at the start of the second half and Harry Kane forced a fine save from Ederson but we couldn't sustain pressure in the final third with City attacking from all angles.

Raheem Sterling scored twice late before Christian Eriksen's consolation in added time as City stretched their record winning run to 16 - they top the table by 14 points.

Mauricio said: "The result is bad, of course and we feel disappointed, but it's important to explain the game. We cannot concede in the way that we conceded, a lack of concentration and focus and this situation changed the game.

"Throughout the game we respected our ideas, but they were better. We tried, but in the end there is not too much to assess, not too much to say, we just have to try to lift the players and be ready to compete again next week."

Mauricio described the mood afterwards. "It's normal, they are sad and disappointed, massive frustration.

"We tried to compete, we tried to win but in the end they were better and if you make some mistakes in this kind of game, you are going to lose.

"Yes, we're disappointed because our expectation was different but now we look forward."

We have a clear week before returning to Premier League action with another trip to the north-west and high-flying Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
