Christian Eriksen has paid tribute to two players very much at opposite ends of their careers.
Brad Friedel has finally called time on his outstanding career at the top level.
Capped 82 times by the USA, the goalkeeper has been a professional for over 20 years with stints at Liverpool, Galatasaray, Blackburn and Villa before the final years of his career at Spurs after joining us in 2011.
During that time he put together his legacy - 310 consecutive appearances in the Premier League between 2004-2012. He last turned out for us at Benfica in March, 2014 but surpremely fit, he’s been on the bench 14 times this term.
“I don’t think there is anyone in football who doesn’t know Brad Friedel!” said Christian, his team-mate for the last two season at the Lane.
“He’s been to many places in his career and all ages of footballers know who he is.
“He’s still playing aged 44 - that’s 20 years to go for me! A long time. It’s just amazing he’s kept himself going, a great professional.”
Christian, one of three players to bag double-figures in the Premier League this season, also heaped praise on top-goalscorer Harry Kane after the young striker’s incredible, 30-goal campaign.
“Everyone is pleased with what he is doing, helping the team and making himself stronger every day,” he added. “He’s done really well, had a fantastic season and he’s also helped the club promote the talent here as well."
