Christian's eighth wonder!

Sun 18 January 2015, 12:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Eriksen completed a week to remember by doing what he does best - hitting another winning goal.

The in-form midfelder was named Danish Footballer of the Year last week and celebrated with his fifth winner and eighth goal in the Premier League so far this season.

His 88th-minute strike against Sunderland also means he's toppled last season's league tally of seven goals.

The Black Cats put up exactly the resistance expected after Seb Larsson cancelled out Jan Vertonghen's opener but we'd had over 20 efforts at goal when Andros Townsend ran fully 70 yards and squared for Christian to drive home off the post.

"We deserved it when you look at the chances we created and the shots we had, even in the first half," said Christian.

"In the second half we were much better, everyone wanted to win and we got there in the end.

"We’re confident, we’re showing everyone how we can play. Palace was an off-day for everyone but we believe in each other and hopefully we’ll do well until the end of the season."

Christian had been knocking on the door before his late breakthrough - he was denied by Costel Pantilimon in the first half and zipped a volley just wide as we piled on the pressure in the second half.

"I had a few shots in the first half that were a bit unlucky. I’m just glad that after I don’t know how many shots I had that one went in!

"I’m delighted, things are going well both for me and the club, so I’m really happy."
