Christian's Christmas bonus
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
A smile returned to the features of Christian Ziege as he trotted down to the Spurs Lodge dressing room after completing an hour of a specially arranged friendly against QPR on Monday.
It has been a challenging period for the German international who, after finally overcoming double thigh surgery and making his comeback against West Ham in the Carling Cup at the end of October, cruelly suffered knee ligament damage in the game that resulted in another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
His knee was in a cast for several weeks and the elegant leftie was naturally down as his working day was spent in the indoor environment of the treatment room and gym. A return to his favoured workplace is the perfect Christmas bonus for the 31-year-old.
"It is definitely different when you can start running, you start feeling your muscles and know that you are working towards being back on the pitch," he reasoned.
"I have said several times now that being on the pitch playing football is what my life is all about," he reasoned.
"In the last year I haven't had that too many times, it changes my whole life and I just want to be on the pitch playing every day."
And the knee?
"It is good, I can still feel it a little bit but there are no problems. I still work hard in the gym and now it is not so difficult because I can also go outside and work with the ball."
