Christian targets success in Scotland
29 March 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Christian Eriksen scored the last time Denmark played in Scotland – and it’s fair to say he’s hoping for more of the same when the two countries meet again at Hampden Park tonight (Tuesday, March 29).
The talented midfielder was only 19 when he hit the target in what turned out to be a 2-1 defeat in Glasgow in August, 2011.
But after getting a new era for Danish football under the tutelage of recently-appointed Head Coach Åge Hareide off to a winning start against Iceland last week, Christian is determined to help his nation to victory this evening as they look to move on from their failure to reach Euro 2016 and build up some momentum ahead of the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“We played away to Scotland in 2011 and I remember it was raining, so hopefully we’ll see some sunshine this time – and some good football too!” smiled the now 24-year-old.
“Of course, it will be a really difficult game but we’re looking to win it so hopefully we can get the goals we need.
“We always want to do better than we did in the Euro qualification – these are only friendly games but we need to get our team sorted before qualification for the World Cup starts so that’s what we aim to do.”
Kick-off tonight is at 8pm.
