Christian reborn

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Christian Ziege suggested when he joined Spurs that he had a point to prove - he's doing it in style.

The in-form wing-back is our top scorer - and joint third in the Premership - with five goals in his last eight games and has won his place back in the German national side since joining us from Liverpool in the summer.

He found himself out of Gerard Houllier's plans at Anfield and watched from the sidelines last season as the Kop giants brought home a hat-trick of trophies.

What a contrast now through. Christian reflected: "I had quite a difficult time at Liverpool. I liked it there, everything was fine apart from the fact that I wasn't playing.

"For any player it is disappointing if you are not playing and then even more so not to be on the bench.

"Things are going well for me at the moment but I have to say everyone has given me so much at Tottenham.

"I like to be here. The lads are great, it's great to come into training every day. Everything is fine, my family is fine and that's important to me. Hopefully I can show even more."

The 29-year-old has already thanked Glenn Hoddle for giving him the chance to prove himself again and paid further tribute for the belief the boss showed in him after his arrival.

Glenn said at the time that Christian was, arguably, the best left wing-back in the world two or three years ago and he had the ability to be there again.

Christian said: "If someone tells everyone that I'm one of the best on the left side and he believes I can come back to that performance then that is someone who believes in me and I try to give everything back."

His latest goal against Derby County on Monday night was another for football's connoisseurs - latching onto Teddy Sheringham's inch-perfect pass inside the full-back before finishing first time with the outside of his left foot.

"Personally for me it is going great but the most important thing (on Monday night) was the three points," he added. "We played some great football. It is so enjoyable to play in that team. We keep the ball, two-touch, three-touch football.

"I think even the last few games we've played well. Okay, the second half against United wasn't good enough but the first half was tremendous football, Liverpool was good football, at home against Chelsea. We didn't get the points but I hope now we've started a nice run."
