Christian ready for Swansea challenge

28 February 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Eriksen reckons today’s (Sunday, February 28) match against Swansea City will be a real footballing test in every sense of the phrase.

The Danish international, on target twice in our 2-2 draw with the Swans at their Liberty Stadium base in October, expects us to come up against a style of football similar to our own at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

But not only is he looking to combat that and stamp our authority on the game, he says we’ll have to remain mentally strong so as not to lose ground on our rivals in the uppermost places of the Premier League table.

“Obviously it was nice to score the goals against them earlier this season,” said Christian ahead of our latest clash with the south Wales outfit, kick-off 2.05pm.

“It was a really difficult game at their place – it always is against Swansea. They like to get the ball down and play a lot of football, a bit like we do, and they have some very good players who can cause you problems.

“Hopefully, though, if we can just keep doing our own thing and play to our own strengths, we’ll be able to pick up more points today.

“We know we’re in a good position and we need to be really strong to maintain it. We believe we have the quality and now we have to show it.”
