Christian ready for international action

Thu 22 May 2014, 10:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Eriksen steps back into action for Denmark tonight, admitting: “Maybe the season ended too soon for me!”

The attacking midfielder was in fine form at the end of the campaign to complete his first season at the club with 10 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions, including seven goals and eight assists in 25 matches in the Premier League.

His performances earned a Player of the Season treble from fans, taking the Supporters Clubs, One Hotspur Members and One Hotspur Junior prizes to add to his Danish Player of the Year for 2013.

After helping us to a 3-0 win against Villa in our final match of the season on May 11, Christian returns to the international scene and a friendly against Hungary.

“I had a couple of small injuries but you have to get back on track and in the last few games I played all right, so I was happy with that,” said Christian, understated as ever.

“You always have your own thoughts on how it should be and how it would be.

“From what I’ve heard the first season should be about learning and then see about next season. The start of the season went that way but then it turned, I got more used to it and adapted quicker.

“Maybe the end of the season came too soon!”
