Christian determined to build on debut

Christian Eriksen introduced himself to the Spurs faithful in style with an impressive debut last weekend - and is determined to carry that form over as we embark on the Group Stage of the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder set up Gylfi Sigurdsson for our first half opener against Norwich City on Saturday, but that was far from the extent of his involvement.
He caused Norwich problems all afternoon, and also had a hand in the build-up to Gylfi’s second goal shortly after the interval, before being withdrawn to a rapturous applause from the White Hart Lane faithful with 20 minutes remaining.
And the Danish international plans to use the confidence gained from that performance, in addition to his prior experience of playing on the continent with former club Ajax, to aid us on our Europa League journey this term.
“It’s going to be an exciting game,” said Christian ahead of Thursday night’s Group Stage opener against Norwegian side Tromso IL at the Lane.
“I have a lot of confidence and I think that’s a good thing. Saturday was a good start to my time here, so of course that’s a nice beginning to build on.”
Christian was one of seven new arrivals over the summer, as we boosted our squad ahead of the challenges that lie ahead.
And the young Dane reckons our squad as a whole has the ingredients needed to “go far” in Europe.
“I think for sure, if you see how many good players we have, and how good an achievement it is (to do well in the Europa League), there is the possibility to go far,” he said.
