Christian delight for Jamie
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
As someone who has also suffered more than his fair share of injury woes in recent times, Christian Ziege described Jamie Redknapp's return on Sunday as wonderful for the club skipper.
The midfielder made a 20-minute substitute appearance against Newcastle and has verve and experience in the middle of the park helped the team up the tempo in the final phase of the game and secure victory.
Jamie has been absent since the Southampton game in September with a knee problem while Christian was also back at the sharp end following a two game return at the end of January.
"I have had the same experience and, for Jamie on Sunday, it must have been wonderful to come on for the last 20 minutes and get his captain's armband back," reflected the German international.
"He played well in that time, although the biggest thing for him will have been just to be there again and benefit from all the hard work he has done in the gym.
"To get back on the field is magnificent. He has worked so hard and he deserves it. Like me, he has been so long out of the game and that is the day he would have been looking towards always during that time.
"I am delighted for him."
Meanwhile, Christian has strongly rejected suggestions in a Sunday newspaper report that he criticised the team and was unhappy at not yet receiving the offer of a contract extension.
"I just want to say that I would never say something about someone else before talking to the person directly.
"I never said some of things in the article. All I said was that I am unsure about getting a new contract and said that, at some stages of the season, we have not been consistent and that is the reason why we are not higher in the league.
"That was it. I would never say anything about the manager or anybody else at the club - even if I don't get a new contract at the club.
"I signed a contract for three years and if they want to look for something else, that's football. Obviously I would like to stay, but I just have to get on with it and do my best.
"It not in my character to attack someone or put pressure on them through the newspapers or whatever."
