Chris targets swift return

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton says the despair of losing the Worthington Cup final on Sunday will increase the desire to bounce back and succeed in the League and FA Cup.

Coach Chris admits that the team did not perform to full capability in Cardiff and said the passing and movement was not quite up to scratch on the day.

"Very, very disappointing," said Chris afterwards. "If I look how we've been playing in recent games, particularly the cup games, we probably didn't play as well as we would have like to have played, we didn't move the ball as well as we would have liked.

"Our passing game probably wasn't as good as it's been in other games, but it's a game and it's about chances. We certainly had three very good chances, and if I looked at their two goals they were two scrappy type goals from our point of view.

"That's what winning games is about, they took their opportunities and we didn't. Disappointment, but for us it's about bouncing back.

"At least we fortunate enough that we're still involved in the FA Cup. If this, having played here and the disappointment of today, doesn't drive everyone on to want to play in the FA Cup final then there's got to be something wrong."

Chris now begins the process of picking up the players ahead of the visit of Sunderland on Saturday.

"I think you look to the experienced players who have been there before. Again, it's not like we haven't got a game for a couple of weeks, we have, we play a bit game on Saturday against Sunderland.

"One thing we mustn't lose track of is that we still want to finish as high up that league as possible. So that's an important and, of course, the FA Cup the following week against Chelsea is a massive game.

"It takes on more now, most certainly. Again, as I say, these lads are bitterly disappointed and I think that will drive us on for the FA Cup game.

"It was about goals - and they got two scrappy ones. We've got to take a positive out of a negative. What you can't afford to do is be down about it because we've got important games to play."
