Chris pleased to see Doc
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Hughton is delighted to see Gary Doherty back in action tonight after illness and Irish disappointment.
Big 'Doc' missed a couple of days training last week but was fit enough to join up with Ireland for their trip to Switzerland - he remained on the bench as they lost 2-0 and went out of Euro 2004.
Doc is set to return to action for the reserves against Watford at Stevenage Borough tonight, kick-off 7pm.
"It's good news for Doc," said Chris. "He was away with the Irish squad at the weekend, on the bench but didn't play, was ill for a while last week and it's good to see him back in contention. He's trained this week and trained very well."
Doc joins Christian Ziege, Stephane Dalmat, Kazu Toda and Helder Postiga in the reserve line-up.
It's another nice mix with Rob Burch, Dean Marney, Mark Hughes, Lee Barnard, Paul O'Donoghue and John Jackson also playing.
"That's how it has to be," added Chris. "There are perhaps other senior players who could be involved but you have to get the right balance.
"The important thing with the seniors is they have to be a good influence on the younger lads and we've never had any problems on that front. They've always done themselves proud and done well for the youngsters.
"As we all know, results aren't the most important thing. It's about performances, seeing the younger lads coming through and valuable fitness for the senior lads."
