Chris on the Nabil effect

Fri 17 January 2014, 11:17|Tottenham Hotspur

Chris Ramsey expects Nabil Bentaleb's breakthrough to have a positive effect on the development squad.

Nabil was a regular in our Under-21s team this season - captaining the side on occasions - before being handed his first team chance at Southampton in December.

He came off the bench that day to make his Premier League debut and has made five appearances since, including a first start in the FA Cup at Arsenal and a full Premier League debut last time out against Palace.

"Nabil is a great example to the rest of the the youngsters at the club," said coach Chris.

"For a start, he has a fantastic mentality to training, he treats every training session as if it's his last.

"He got his chance and responded and now it's up to him to maintain that level of performance.

"The younger lads see that and know if they perform, they will have a chance. Don't forget, Zeki (Fryers), Harry Kane, Ryan Fredericks and Shaq Coulthirst have all featured this season."
