Chris Ful' of disappointment
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Hughton was left disappointed by his reserve side’s lack of killer instinct in Wednesday’s friendly against Fulham.
The impression from the manager was that we let the visitors off the hook too often, especially in the first half, eventually allowing a forward line that included former German international Karlheinz Riedle and Canadian international Paul Peschisolido to cash in for a 4-2 win.
Two late goals secured a somewhat unreflective margin of victory but Hughton admitted the game could have been over as a contest by then.
He conceded: “We lost out because they were better than us in the final third. In the first half I thought we had a lot of chances, a lot of efforts on goal and that was against a very strong wind.
“But it all hinged on goals. If we had scored the goals we should have done early on then perhaps we would have killed the game off.
“Of course they were therefore always in the game. If we had scored the goals we should have done it might well have knocked their spirit and we might have gone on to score more.”
There were still positives though. “Obviously Leo coming back and the fact that it gave lads much-needed games, someone like Neale Fenn who hasn’t featured in that many games was able to get 75 minutes,” added Chris.
“It maintained fitness for the likes of Doherty, Davies, Etherington and there is every chance they could be included over the Christmas programme.
“The disappointing factor was the last half-hour. Once they came back to 2-2 we then gave the ball away far too often and too cheaply and they had the quality from the front lads to punish us.”
