Chris eager for action
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Hughton can barely wait to get his in-form reserve team back in action.
He won’t have to wait long — we take on West Ham in the FA Premier Reserve League South at St Albans on Tuesday night (7.30pm).
Our last scheduled fixture against Arsenal last Monday was postponed just 20 minutes before kick-off after a late referee’s inspection deemed the pitch at Boreham Wood FC unplayable.
That was frustrating for Chris and his side after winning four out of their last five games and they’ve been kicking their heels since.
Chris admitted: “It was very disappointing to miss out last week. On paper we had a good side out and the fact that we were already at the ground was very disappointing. You don’t want to be without a game so it’s all the more important that we go into this game and apply ourselves well.”
As usual, Chris expects a tough encounter in what is a competitive league.
He added: “If I look at the teams West Ham have put out so far this season they generally tend to be quite young, have a touch of experience in there and normally there are one or two surprises.
“I would have thought they will be quite young but if you look at how the youth team and Under-19s have done in the last couple of years they have had some very good players. It won’t be easy.”
And Chris is hoping to make it five straight home wins as the reserve side aim for the top three. “It’s been similar to last season when we didn’t start as well but we’ve had a couple of excellent reactions from the lads after recent defeats — one at Charlton, a heavy defeat and then up at Derby and we’ve won both matches since then. Morale within the group is very, very good and we just want to get into games again.”
